Super Smash Bros ultimate is super smash bros, but there are way more characters than Super smash bros 4 and even has non-Nintendo characters in it! Here's the list of characters:

So smash bros for Wii U/3DS Has been announced, along with twelve characters, nine of them having appeared in a former Smash Bros title. But of the original eight (Mario, Link, Samus, Pikachu, Kirby, Fox, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi) only seven have appeared in publicity. Yoshi is strangely absent, as are the four original special characters (Captain Falcon, Luigi, Ness and Jigglypuff). All these characters are series staples, and I know they missed out even more original characters in Brawl's trailers, but it still makes me nervous. Thoughts? Yoshi/Falcon/Ness haven't had a decent game for ages...
Yoshizumi on including Tales characters in S.S.B.4
Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada isn’t going to push Masahiro Sakurai into adding any of his characters on the roster for the next Smash Bros. games ( http://nintendoeverything.com/95027/harada-talks-tag-2-for-wii-u-fears-that-the-console-isnt-next-gen-smash-bros/ ). Tales series producer Makoto Yoshizumi seems to be carrying the same mentality, though Yoshito Higuchi would apparently “love” to see a character or two included.
Yoshizumi has said that getting a Tales character into the new Smash Bros. may prove to be difficult since “a character can only appear in a Smash Bros game if he already appeared on a Ninte
